Few artists can lay claim to the titles of ‘legendary’ and ‘pioneering’, but as the NME argued recently, ‘Gary Numan’s influence on electronic music is unparalleled.’ His signature style can be heard in everything from bands such as Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson, Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins, Basement Jaxx, Sugababes, Wu Tang Clan and Afrika Bambaata. It’s also no coincidence that all of these artists have chosen to cover or sample his songs.

He has also been widely recognised as influential in recent years by artists such as Queens of the Stone Age, Beck, Tricky, Damon Albarn and David Bowie, but Numan’s influence is far reaching, having inspired a wide range of musical genres from hip hop to techno.

Now in his 30th year as a recording artist and having amassed millions of record sales, including 2 number one singles ‘Are Friends Electric?’ and ‘Cars’ and 3 number one albums ‘Replicas’, ‘The Pleasure Principle’ and ‘Telekon’, 2008 saw Numan successfully complete a sold out 15 date ‘Replicas’ UK Tour and perform to thousands at various shows and festivals around the UK including Bestival, Wicker Man and The Mighty Boosh Festival, where he has become an instantly recognisable cult figure to a whole new generation on the Boosh TV series.

In 2008, he released a double CD remix album ‘Jagged Edge’, based around 2006’s critically acclaimed ‘Jagged’, co-produced with Ade Fenton. The pair are currently in the studio working on Numan’s 18th studio album ‘Splinter’, due for release in 2009.

As Kerrang! magazine recently wrote, ‘Gary Numan is vital as ever…the Godfather is back and he’s here to stay.’
